After weeks of grinding the Halo 2 campaign, Twitch streamer and Halo speedrunner. JerValin has finally achieved what the internet once thought impossible: completing a legendary difficulty run with all skulls (except the Envy Skull, which gives the main boss an invisibility cloak) without any deaths. No other player has managed to achieve this feat, which means that JerValiN has officially made gaming history.
A community-wide race to beat the Halo 2 LASO without dying started when popular Twitch streamer MoistCr1TiKaL issued a $5,000 reward for completing the challenge at the end of June, it was then raised to $20,000 July. After attempting the challenge numerous times, JerValiN was finally able to complete it with his mastery of Halo 2’s campaign systems, clever use of glitches and skips, skillful and methodical gameplay, and a bit of luck.
Halo 2 LASO has a reputation for being significantly more difficult than any other Halo LASO campaign, mainly due to the fact that activating all the skulls on Legendary difficulty takes insane amounts of damage to the enemies and leaves the player with next to no health. Additionally, all of Halo 2’s skulls have an overall detrimental effect on the player, taking away their heads-up display (HUD) and weapon view model, preventing them from charging their shields without melee kills, and reducing ammo. they can carry. Meanwhile, all enemies gain an invisibility cloak, higher rank, improved fire rate, and the ability to indiscriminately drop grenades. Halo 2 is also widely considered to be horribly balanced on legendary difficulty in general (I’m sure you’ve seen the Sniper Jackal memes).
Part of me seriously doubted that this challenge would ever be completed, so watching JerValiN live was an incredible experience. Halo 2 LASO deathless is arguably the toughest challenge in the entire game, but a dazzling display of skill and finesse by one man proved that no impossible.
The successful run took a total of six hours, 29 minutes and 44.17 seconds. You can watch the entire VOD directly from JerValiN’s Twitch channel in the VOD above.
