She-Hulk star Tatjana Maslany, series creator Jessica Gao, and producer Kat Coiro spoke out about CGI criticism on the show, as well as her concerns about the treatment of visual effects workers. The trio’s comments on these issues appeared via She-HulkTelevision Critics Association summer press tour on Wednesday.
Several stories have emerged over the past few weeks VFX house and their employees blaming Disney. it is particularly difficult to work with. According to stories, Disney often engages in bidding wars for its projects, undercutting prices because of its size and power in the industry. This results in smaller teams working on each project, which increases the demand for man hours. In addition, Disney also often requires changes very late in the process, making artists work even worse, according to anonymous employees.
“I have incredible respect for how talented these artists are and how fast they have to work. Obviously much faster than they should be given,” Maslany said during the TCA panel. “I know there’s a lot of focus on CG and criticism or whatever. I think we have to be very aware that working conditions are not always optimal and that they have made these amazing strides in industry and technology. I look and I see thoughts, you know, it doesn’t look like a cut scene from a video game.
“And we stand in solidarity with what they’re saying,” Coiro said. “The truth is that we work with them, but we are not behind the scenes during these long nights and days. So if they feel pressured, we stand with them and listen to them.
Under these conditions, many VFX houses and studios began trying to unionize, giving artists and workers more collective power to help run their studios and demand higher, fairer prices from Marvel.
“It’s just a huge thing to do a show of this scale where the main character is cg, it’s a very overwhelming and huge thing to take on, and it’s scary that many artists feel rushed and think the workload is too much,” Gao. said “I think everyone in this group stands in solidarity with all the workers and supports good working conditions.
“For the union,” Maslany added.
She-Hulk each received negative reactions from CGI upon release trailers so far, including last month at Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con panel. She-HulkIt was announced one day on Wednesday through an official announcement Disney Plus schedule for the month of August.
