Police verify pictures fired at Mall of America; lock is in impact

Law enforcement responds to Mall of America for reports of shots fired.

Bloomington police confirmed to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS around 4:30 p.m. that there were multiple units at the mall working on an “active incident” on the northwest side.

The mall confirmed it was on lockdown, saying there had been an “isolated incident” in a tenant space.

No other information was immediately available from police or the mall.

Video from the mall appears to show the situation inside the Nike store, as three loud bangs can be heard in the video.

Another video from inside shows the crowd taking shelter in the mall’s basement.

Video taken outside the mall shows people running from the building.

As a result of this activity, Metro Transit has announced that it will not allow passengers to enter the mall until further notice.
