starz officially confirmed Outlander prequel series named The blood of my blood is being developed. The writers’ room is officially open for a new drama series that will follow the love story of Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) parents Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser.
Speculation about an Outlander The preface began last summer when Deadline hit starz about the project, although they declined to confirm at the time.
Matthew B. Roberts will write Outlander: Blood of My Blood and will serve as host and executive producer. He is also the showrunner and executive producer of the flagship series, which is currently in production for Season 7.
Marill Davis will also executive produce with Ronald D. Moore, who created Outlander for television, under their production banner Tall Ship Productions. Story Mining & Supply Company also EP with Diana Gabaldonwhose novels inspired the franchise, advised the producer.
Gabaldon revealed in February that he was writing a prequel about Jamie’s parents.
“Outlander is an addictive show that has captured the hearts of fans around the world season after season,” said Kathryn Busby, Starz President of Original Programming. “We’re excited to peel back the layers of this vibrant world to introduce our audience to where it all began.” Matthew, Maril and Ronald will continue to bring their great vision and creativity to this new iteration and we can’t wait to see what happens next.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood will be produced by Sony Pictures Television. Executive Vice President of Original Programming Karen Bailey will oversee on behalf of Starz.
