Another step toward the NFL’s appeal of the Browns quarterback’s six-game suspension. Deshaun Watson happened on Friday afternoon.
The NFL Players Association announced that it has filed a brief in response to the league’s appeal. Friday was the deadline for the NFLPA to submit that document.
The NFL is believed to be facing an indefinite suspension of at least one year and a fine. Sue L. Robinson’s original decision did not include any monetary penalty against Watson.
Former New Jersey Attorney General Peter Harvey was selected to listen Address by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Harvey served on league advisory committees and consulted with the league on the personal conduct policy used to suspend Watson.
Policy calls for a speedy decision on appeals, so Harvey’s decision should come soon and give the Browns some clarity on when they could have their biggest acquisition of the year.
