Konami has introduced a brand new music-based Bomberman sport for Apple Arcade.

Konami introduced a new image Bombermancompetitive blast-’em-up series that arguably peaked in 1997 with the release of the double Saturn Bomberman and Super Bomberman 64it looks quite different than recent attempts to revive the franchise. Awesome Bombermanas it’s called, keeps the classic top-down gameplay of the best Bomberman games, but adds a musical twist.

As you can see in the trailer above, Awesome Bomberman includes sights and sounds reminiscent of games such as Pac-Man Championship pass, Attackers from space Extremeand Tetrium effect — all classic games reimagined with stylish visual and aural flair. Awesome BombermanThis approach seems a little more intense with video and music effects that will change the stages of the game over time.

In a press release, Konami said this Awesome Bomberman the presentation will feature seven stages, each with its own original tunes composed by artists from Japan and abroad. And while some of the game’s visuals have been modernized to match Awesome Bombermanpresentation, the classic graphics of the series remain the same for improvements. It’s a strange combination Dance dance revolution style and a 30-year-old Bomberman game, but hopefully it will work in practice.

Awesome Bomberman will be available exclusively on Apple Arcade when it launches later this week. The game will be playable on Apple TV, iPhone, iPad and Mac. An Apple Arcade subscription costs $4.99 per month and is included in Apple One’s Individual ($14.95), Family ($19.95), and Premier ($29.95) monthly plans.
