Former Vice President Dick Cheney said in a campaign ad for his eldest daughter, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), that former President Donald Trump is a “coward” and the greatest threat to the nation in its 246-year history.

“He is a coward,” Cheney says in the ad, which was released Thursday. “A real man would not lie to his supporters. He lost the election and lost big. I know it, he knows it, and deep down I think most Republicans know it.

August 16 Liz Cheney faces a tough primary for Wyoming’s only congressional seat, and Trump-backed Harriet Hageman would win.

Trump, Cheney said, “tried to steal the last election, using lies and violence to keep himself in power after voters rejected him.”

The former president has repeatedly made false claims about voter fraud and rigged elections. He was impeached by the House of Representatives on charges of inciting sedition for 2021. on Jan. 6, when a mob of his supporters stormed Capitol Island to stop the confirmation of Joe Biden’s Electoral College win.

“In our nation’s 246-year history, there has never been a person who poses a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump,” says Dick Cheney.

In the ad, the former vice president wears a white cowboy hat and speaks directly to the camera. He says he and his wife, Lynne Cheney, are proud of Liz Cheney for “standing up for the truth, doing what’s right, standing by her oath to the Constitution when so many in our party are too afraid to do so.”

Liz Cheney was ousted from the House of Representatives’ No. 3 Republican post after Jan. 6. of the rebellion voted to impeach Trump. She is the vice-chairman of the Select Committee investigating the attack.

The congresswoman often criticized Trump, drawing the ire of the former president.

“Liz is fearless. She never backs down from a fight,” her father says in the ad. “There is nothing more important she will ever do than lead the effort to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office ever again.” And she will succeed.”
