Fiery multi-car crash at Windsor Hills intersection kills 5, together with child – NBC Los Angeles

At least five people, including a baby and a pregnant woman, were killed in a fiery crash that sent at least six cars into an intersection in Los Angeles’ Windsor Hills neighborhood.

Shocking new surveillance footage of the crash shows a seemingly normal intersection with traffic moving at a reasonable pace as a black Mercedes rockets through a red light.

The accident was reported just before 2 p.m. at La Brea and Slauson avenues. The CHP said four to five people died in the crash and fires, including a baby and a pregnant woman.

Eight people were taken to the hospital due to injuries. Six children and two adults suffered minor injuries, officials said. Five dead were thus declared at the scene.

Two of the three burned cars stopped under the gas station sign. Another appears to have overturned on a roof near the entrance to a gas station in a community about 10 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles.

A witness video shows a plume of black smoke rising from one of the cars.

Another witness said one of the drivers was making a left turn before the crash.

“Those two exploded right there, just shooting everywhere,” the witness said.

Debris was strewn at the intersection, where several ambulances were staged.
