Christina Ricci says Johnny Depp “defined homosexuality” to her as a toddler.

When she was nine, Christina Ricci learned what it was like to be gay on the phone with Johnny Depp.

The Addams Family star has opened up about discovering “what homosexuality is” while filming 1990’s The Little Mermaid alongside Cher and Depp’s then-girlfriend Winona Ryder.

It turns out SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live On Thursday, Ricci revealed her unlikely conversation with the Pirates of the Caribbean star.

“Johnny [Depp] is actually the person who explained to me what homosexuality was when I was nine years old,” she explained.

Ricci said her curiosity was sparked after she witnessed a homophobic incident on the set of her “first movie.”

“Something happened on the set and something was not nice to the other person. And they were like, “oh, he might be homophobic.” And then I was like, ‘Well, I don’t know what that is,'” added the two-time Emmy-nominated star.

It was then that she turned to her colleague Ryder for some clarity. After Ryder failed to explain what homosexuality was to the then-nine-year-old Ricci, she called in her then-boyfriend, Depp.

“She was like, ‘I don’t know how to…’ so she helped me get on the phone with Johnny.” And Johnny explained it to me,” Ricci told Cohen.

According to Ricci, Depp explained it in “simple terms” and “very matter-of-factly.”

“He was like, ‘When a man wants to make love to a man, and when a woman wants to make love to a woman.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, okay,'” she added.
