Arizona Cardinals shortstop Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was arrested Wednesday morning on speeding charges, the Arizona Department of Public Safety confirmed. KTAR News 92.3 FM and Arizona Sports.
According to DPS spokesman Bart Graves, Brown was pulled over at 7:05 a.m. while driving south on Loop 101 in the HOV lane.
Brown was not with the team during the portion of Wednesday morning’s practice in front of reporters, but has been slowly recovering from a hamstring injury since the start of training camp last week.
“We are aware of the Hollywood Brown situation and have notified the NFL front office as appropriate. We will comment further as appropriate,” the Cardinals said in a statement.
Brown was placed on the active non-football injury list a day before the start of training camp last Wednesday with a hamstring problem. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said it was more of a precaution before the team removed Brown from the NFI list on Tuesday.
“We’re just easing him back in. We’re going to start him off with some walks. … I’m guessing Monday if everything stays right,” Kingsbury said Tuesday.
The head coach said Wednesday the team hoped Brown could return by the weekend, but the Cardinals wanted to be smart about his health.
With the Baltimore Ravens in 2021. Brown finished with a career-high 1,008 yards and six touchdowns.
On the first night of the NFL draft, he and the 100th overall pick owned by Baltimore were traded to the Cardinals for Arizona’s first-round pick.
