“Thank you for all the messages of support around the world,” Arbi wrote on Instagram. Shoutout directors Edgar Wright and James Gunn, your kind words and experiences mean a lot and help us get through this difficult time.

Before the Instagram posts, the filmmakers issued a statement Warner Bros decided not to release the film, saying they were “saddened and shocked” by the news. “We still can’t believe it,” Arbi and Fallah wrote in a joint post. “As filmmakers, it’s very important that our work is shown to audiences, and while the film is far from finished, we want fans around the world to have had the opportunity to see and embrace the final film for themselves.” Maybe one day they will insha’Allah.
